Psalm 78: 3-4: Which we have heard and known,
And our fathers have told us.
We will not conceal them from their children,
But tell to the generation to come the praises of the LORD,
And His strength and His wondrous works that He has done.

London District Christian Secondary School (LDCSS) started almost 50 years ago, in September 1965 with the conviction that the Christian faith should be lived out in every aspect of life, and that a Christ centered education was a part of that.

"Our aim is to instil in every student a life long love of and service to Jesus Christ," states Jerry Roukema, head of Religious Studies at LDCSS. "We believe that everything belongs to God, and we are using the gifts God gave us to His ends."

This vision is ably demonstrated in the "Culminating Activity" of the grade 10 Bible class. Students are challenged to demonstrate their understanding of the Christian faith through creative media. The activity has lead to beautiful and powerful interpretations of scriptural themes such as salvation as students explore and mature in their own faith.

"Our teachers really are the difference," says Roukema. "Psalm 36 (9) states: 'In Your light we see light.' At LDCSS we seek to reveal God's creation and creatures in light of His Light."

Over the last fifty years enrolment has grown ten fold from a humble twenty-seven students to nearly three hundred currently. Not only do students come from as far away as Sarnia and Clinton, there are thirty-three international students.

"It is important to see LDCSS not only as a school, but as a ministry," says Margaret Schmor, Advancement Director. "Along side providing our students with a strong academic foundation, we see our role as nurturing and equipping teenagers to own their faith and become Christian leaders in their churches, homes, and communities." There are monthly open houses for interested families.

The London District Christian Secondary School receives no government funding (though they are bi-annually audited by the Ministry of Education to ensure they are meeting or exceeding educational standards) and relies solely upon tuition and fundraising for the operating budget. The fiftieth anniversary activities kick off this September. Events include a celebratory fundraising golf tournament on September 16, 2015, and a Gala dinner on April 16, 2016.
